Summer

Hokkaido is popular with the Japanese as a summer destination to escape the heat and humidity of Honshu, the southern island. For those of us from the southern hemisphere, it’s the perfect place to take  a break from winter.

With plenty of national parks, rivers, forests, mountains, golf courses and wildlife to enjoy, Niseko is a great destination if you like to relax outdoors. From Tanuki Lodge you have easy access to stunning road riding, mtb parks serviced by gondolas, river rafting, golf courses and bush walking.

You can join a local soba noodle making class or learn a new craft, in-between shopping at farmers markets for local produce or exploring the region. Proximity to the ocean, one of the best whiskey distilleries in the world, an easy drive to Sapporo and fabulous local restaurants mean that you’ll find plenty to keep yourself entertained.
